A native Texan, Dr. Martin graduated with high honors from Texas A&M University in 1976. He then attended Texas Tech University School of Medicine where he earned the Robert J. Salem Senior Medical Student award for Excellence in Surgery and graduated in 1980.   He went  to Baylor University College of Medicine in Houston, TX where he trained under legendary surgeon Dr. Michael E. DeBakey from 1980-85.  Dr. Martin then spent an additional two years training for cardiothoracic surgery at the University Of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS until 1987.  He entered private practice for Cardiac, Vascular & Thoracic Surgery in south Texas and  there served as Chief of Surgery until his move to Las Vegas to join CSSN in 1995. In Dr. Martin’s tenure at CSSN, he has been repeatedly selected as one of the area’s best Cardiac & Vascular surgeons.

Dr. Martin’s special surgical interests include: cardiac valve repair and replacement and surgery on the Aorta, to include minimally invasive endografting procedures.  He presently serves as Chief of Cardiac Surgery and Chairman of Surgery at Desert Springs Hospital.
